The Life Aquatic [Jan. 3rd, 2005|02:03 am]
Scrambled Porn

I really didn't enjoy The Life Aquatic, even despite a notable fondness for previous Wes Anderson movies (my favorite being Rushmore). I chuckled a couple of times and appreciated seeing Willem Defoe in a comedy but that aside I was completely bored. I've been looking forward to the film for some time and was disappointed that I just couldn't get into it.

Heather proposed leaving a quarter the way through, but I kept hoping it would pick up. And it did. But not enough to salvage my opinion of the movie.

Tomorrow we're going to watch Bottle Rockets again.

next time we should walk out and demand a refund for wasted time.

i grew rather irritated, after realizing the boredom i was experiencing, with the crowds laughter. it was like one of those obnoxious laugh tracks. i guess i was painfully aware of our surroundings as well. hopefully we'll have better luck next time.

overall, i haven't been too pleased with the film releases lately. some have been entertaining, but that may be just due to the others having not been. maybe that will change next time.

I generally have a problem requesting my money back if I didn't like a film because it was my decision to go see the film and if I wanted to I could have read reviews. I mean, Loews didn't make the movie. If there is a crying baby or something like that I have no problem asking for my money back, by contrast, because that is something specific to their environment that they ought to mediate.
